HEALTH & SAFETY
Employers have many statutory responsibilities to ensure the protection of the health and safety of employees.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations specify that employers must control the exposure of their workforce to chemical substances. Monitoring for exposure to dusts, aerosols and gaseous substances can demonstrate compliance with the Regulations and HSE Guidance.

The Noise at Work Regulations (2005) requires the noise exposure of workers to be assessed every 2 years, or sooner, if changes have been made to plant or working practices.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations (2006) specifies that a Type 2 Asbestos Survey must be carried out to check for the presence of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) within the fabric of buildings. ACMs must be inspected annually and the risk to health reviewed.

The "Control of legionella bacteria in water systems, HSE Approved Code of Practice L8," applies to every workplace. Hot and cold water systems must be surveyed and assessed for the potential to expose workers to the bacteria.

CPL Laboratories offer experienced and fully qualified "competent persons" to assist companies in meeting their statutory obligations.
